Itinerary — the floating market & a cooking class full-day tour
DAY 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Cái Bè – Tân Phong Island
- 07:00 – Pick-up at central District 1 hotels (guests outside the pick-up zone meet at the operator's office at 07:30), then drive by air-conditioned vehicle to Cái Bè via the Trung Lương Expressway (about 2.5 hours).
- 09:30 – Arrive at Cái Bè pier and board a wooden boat to cruise the Tiền River past the former floating market area, watching riverside life and the Gothic-style Cái Bè Cathedral.
- 10:20 – Visit an ancient house over 100 years old, then stop at coconut candy and puffed rice workshops to taste fresh-made treats.
- 11:00 – Enjoy a performance of đờn ca tài tử, Southern Vietnamese folk music recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
- 11:30 – Boat to Tân Phong Island for a cooking class in a local home: pick herbs from the garden and make fresh spring rolls (gỏi cuốn), fried spring rolls (chả giò) and a seasonal Mekong dish.
- 12:30 – Lunch in the riverside garden: the dishes you made plus rice, Mekong specialties and fruit prepared by the host family.
- 13:30 – Paddle through small canals by sampan (about 30 minutes), then cycle 15–20 minutes along village paths (walking is also possible).
- 14:30 – Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City (about 2.5 hours); arrive at your District 1 hotel between 16:30 and 17:30, end of the tour.
