Itinerary — Long An full-day tour
DAY 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Bến Lức (Long An) – Ho Chi Minh City
- 08:00 – Your guide picks you up at your hotel in District 1 for the drive to Bến Lức, Long An (about 40 km, 1 hour).
- 09:00 – Stop at Bến Lức market, where your guide buys bait and fresh ingredients for the cooking class.
- 09:45 – Motorboat along the canals to a fishing spot under a rural bridge for about 90 minutes of traditional fishing, with fresh fruit, snacks, beer and soft drinks.
- 11:45 – Continue into narrower, shaded canals, then walk along the riverbank past banana palms and vegetable plots to the coconut garden.
- 12:15 – At the coconut garden, try duck herding and canal bailing with a traditional scoop (gàu sòng), then learn to cook bánh xèo, chả giò and thịt nướng lá lốt.
- Lunch under the coconut palms with the dishes you cooked plus a home-style southern Vietnamese meal, then about 30 minutes of hammock time.
- 14:30 – Paddle sampan ride through the nipa palm canals (about 30 minutes), then a motorboat back to the pier.
- 15:30 – Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, arriving at your District 1 hotel around 17:00.
